LIVERPOOL’S MULTI VENUE CAMPUS SETS NEW STANDARD FOR FAN EVENTS WITH COMIC CON SUCCESS

Exhibition Centre Liverpool has demonstrated its status as one of the UK’s most versatile and scalable event venues, hosting Comic Con Liverpool across its waterfront event campus – including ACC Liverpool, Exhibition Centre Liverpool (ECL), and M&S Bank Arena. With integrated facilities, a campus-wide layout and highly coordinated operations, the convention delivered another vibrant, exciting weekend fuelled by thousands of pop-culture fans.

Comic Con Liverpool drew more than 30,000 visitors, reinforcing its status as one of Europe’s biggest pop-culture conventions and showcasing the advantages of Liverpool’s seamless multi-venue approach. The venue has hosted the event more than 15 times over the years, witnessing its evolution from a modest single-hall exhibition into a large-scale, multi-venue experience that now takes over the entire campus, illustrating both the convention’s rapid growth and the venue’s ability to scale with its ambitions. With headline guests including Emilia Clarke, John Cena, Hayley Atwell and Brie Larson, the event delivered marquee panels and immersive fan experiences, alongside meet-and-greets, exhibitor marketplaces and large-scale performances. The convention demonstrated the venue’s ability to host complex, fast-growing events without compromising comfort or operational efficiency.

By distributing programming across the venue campus, organisers were able to combine premium experiences with high-capacity public spaces, facilitating smooth visitor flow. The layout, complemented by an interconnected four-star hotel for ease of accommodating high-profile guests, enabled the event to accommodate:

  • Expanded VIP participation
  • Higher guest and exhibitor numbers
  • A larger marketplace footprint
  • Higher overall footfall
  • Multiple content formats delivered simultaneously

This integrated approach ensured a cohesive visitor journey, minimal congestion and high production value across every part of the convention.

The events campus is run by the ACC Liverpool Group, which also owns the Ticket Quarter ticketing platform. Ticket Quarter handled large volumes of advance ticket sales and communications with tens of thousands of attendees, streamlining engagement for both fans and organisers. For this autumn’s event, Ticket Quarter also developed a new deposit scheme for premium autograph and photo packages, improving accessibility and increasing conversion for high-value guest experiences.

In addition to Comic Con Liverpool, Ticket Quarter facilitate ticketing for a growing portfolio of third-party events, including other Monopoly Events shows across the UK and Europe. This includes several international Comic Con editions, where Ticket Quarter’s scalable platform supports multi-currency sales, high-volume peaks, premium guest experiences, and complex product mixes. The expansion marks a significant milestone in the partnership, demonstrating promoter confidence in Ticket Quarter’s ability to deliver reliable, flexible and customer-focused ticketing for some of Europe’s fastest-growing fan conventions.

Colm Graham, Head of Partnerships, Hospitality & Exhibition Sales at Exhibition Centre Liverpool, said:

“Our campus offers organisers the flexibility to deliver large-scale, high-profile events that grow year on year. Comic Con Liverpool is one of our biggest events, attracting over 30,000 attendees twice a year, and this edition is a perfect example of what the campus enables: growth, prestige, and world-class production value all under one roof. The campus-wide layout allows different elements of an event to coexist perfectly – VIP experiences, exhibitor zones, entertainment stages – making it an ideal choice for organisers looking to scale without limitations.”

Henry Brown, Head of Ticketing at Ticket Quarter, added:

“Comic Con Liverpool is a complex, multi-product event and a perfect demonstration of our ticketing platform’s flexibility. From fast-moving entry ticket sales to premium passes and our new deposit option for autograph packages, our goal was to ensure a smooth, reliable and transparent journey for fans and organisers alike. We’re also proud to extend this capability across Monopoly Events’ growing portfolio of UK and international shows, helping deliver seamless ticketing for large-scale, multi-venue conventions across Europe”

Comic Con Liverpool’s success highlights how Liverpool’s event campus, supported by Ticket Quarter’s integrated ticketing, enables organisers to confidently deliver large-scale, high-impact events. The campus’ scale, flexibility and reach across the Northwest and beyond allow brands, exhibitors, talent and audiences to engage more deeply, while maintaining operational clarity and exceptional visitor experience.

With its combination of versatile venues, seamless multi-venue design and advanced ticketing infrastructure, Liverpool Events Campus continues to strengthen Liverpool’s position as one of the UK’s premier destinations for ambitious, fast-growing events.
